It's Muffy/Josie time!!

We're calling this girl Josie because Muffy just doesn't fit. Josie is definitely on the shy side, but opens up more each day. She is learning to love pets more each day. Snuggling hasn't come yet, but I think she'll come around. What she loves most is to snuggle up on the dog bed and collect toys. She is learning that she has to share the toys and is getting along really well with our two dogs.

Potty training is going great. Getting Josie on a schedule has suited her best. She goes right away and is very proud. Waiting for her to tell you she has to go will result in an accident. We have found that is really the only way to succeed at potty training. Especially with a rescue dog. There is no idea of knowing what type of life the dog has had before so expecting them to tell us when they have to go potty isn't realistic.

Josie is really quite smart. She is already learning sit without a problem and my goal is to work on stay so she won't sneak out the door. Also, she's been sleeping in her kennel at night and not a peep.

I can't wait for Josie to find her family; she will be a nice pet for someone.

Congrats to Pepper!

Congrats to Pepper and her new family. She went home yesterday. We only had her for a week, but loved her very much. Now to make room for the next one.

An app so soon?

Pepper has an adoption application already! This is great news of course, but selfishly I'd hoped to have a little more time with her because we just love her. You never know what kind of dog you'll get off the transport, but she is truly a gem. We hope to hear soon how it goes. Stay tuned...

Heeeere's Pepper!

Isn't she just a beauty? Honestly, I wasn't sure if we were up for an eight month old dog on the medium to large size. But, her behavior is not an indicator of her age. Aside from a couple of easily corrected habits like pawing and thinking she is a lap dog, she really is on the mellow side. Pepper is very loving and she wants to please. She loves to receive pets and hugs, and in return gives kisses.

I'm obsessed with how pretty she is. She looks just like a petite Lab, but with a fuzzy coat. Her profile lists her as a Flat Coat Retriever which I had never heard of. If I Google that breed though, it's dead on. She very well could be a pure bred breed, but there isn't a way of knowing for sure. Also, she literally has the softest coat of any dog I've met. Think of those really soft faux fur blankets they make. She came to us groomed much like a cocker spaniel would be; short on the back and long on the chest and legs. I'm sure it will be just as beautiful when it grows out.

She is cautious when first approaching, but quickly warms up to people and dogs alike. Pepper will be such a great addition to a family, now her family just needs to find her. She'll be here waiting.
